We are pleased to announce today a significant change in the hosting world: the project is taking a new direction. A thoughtful, measured evolution, driven by a clear objective: to make a CMS more open, more accessible, and resolutely oriented toward a collective dynamic.

A CMS Designed to Be Open to Everyone

Starting September 1st, the core of ClientXCMS will be made available to the public. This opening is based on a strong conviction: allowing everyone to take ownership of an evolving, free, adaptable foundation built to grow together.

The goal is simple: to give our team, composed of volunteers, the means to focus their efforts on what really matters — developing new useful features adapted to real-world needs.

This transformation is built around three pillars:

• Publishing the source code on GitHub, accessible to all.
• Introducing an anonymized statistics system, to better understand usage without compromising privacy.
• Structured access to extensions and support, via flexible and clear licenses.

We aspire to build a sustainable ecosystem, in which everyone can get involved, evolve, and enrich the project in their own way.

A Version Accessible to Everyone, Support for Those Who Need It

This summer, our showcase website will get a makeover. This redesign will be accompanied by a complete reorganization of plans, designed to be more readable, more affordable, and in line with this new open and collaborative direction.

To support this transition, we are launching a free "Community" license. It allows you to freely connect your installation to our extensions marketplace, with no fees or usage limitations. This bridge ensures smooth, structured integration, designed to welcome community contributions.

Beyond the technical aspect, this model opens the door to an economic ecosystem, where everyone can offer their own extensions and turn their passion into a sustainable source of income — under certain conditions...

The old plans (Starter, Plus, Professional, Business) will disappear in favor of two simple and fair plans, focused on support and access to extension credits:

• Premium – €9.99/month or €99.99/year To get started with peace of mind, technical support included and 3 extensions of your choice created by us via the marketplace.

• Enterprise – €14.99/month or €149.99/year For organizations wishing to exploit the full potential of ClientXCMS, with 5 extensions of your choice created by us and personalized multi-channel support.

Additional à la carte services will be available to meet specific needs:

• Installation & configuration: €19.99 (one-time payment, no commitment)
• Enhanced technical support & exclusive features: €4.99/month or €49.99/year
• Custom requests: starting at €99 (one-time payment)

Each plan has been designed to support both beginners and demanding professionals, with an inclusive and sustainable approach.

No pricing changes are expected. You keep your current benefits, and access to your extensions remains guaranteed. This is our way of thanking you for your loyalty.

For Current Customers: Guaranteed Continuity

This model change will have no immediate impact for those who already trust us. If you are currently a ClientXCMS customer, your rights and benefits are maintained for the duration of your renewals.

👉 However, to benefit from our new direction — including the new marketplace, community developments, or future extensions — you will need to migrate to the new plans.

Here's what this concretely implies:

• All your already acquired extensions remain fully usable, without limitation.
• Your technical support remains active for 2 years from your purchase date.
• Your services hosted in the Cloud can be migrated to a self-hosted version, or remain in the ClientXCMS Cloud, depending on your situation and future options we will communicate soon, which will give you unrestricted access to your source code.
• If you are on a recurring subscription, you will keep up to 5 active extensions, without price increase, until the end of your commitment.

This structural change was designed for continuity. It respects the existing, while paving the way for a more flexible and collaborative future.

Roadmap: A Progressive Transition, from June to September

To ensure a smooth transition to this new model, we have established a precise roadmap, spread over the next three months. Each step has been designed to support users, developers, and partners in adopting this new version.

🗓 From mid-June, the first adjustments will begin:

• Customers currently hosted in the Cloud can begin their migration to a self-hosted version ("self-hosted or on-premise"), or stay in the Cloud environment according to the options offered.

• A last modification of extensions will be possible before migrating to the new licenses.

🚀 By September 1st, we will put in place the technical and structural foundations of this new era:

• Publication of the complete source code on GitHub.
• Native integration of domain registrars in the CMS.
• Deployment of an anonymized statistics system, which can be disabled.
• Relaunch of CTXReselling, our dedicated resale solution.
• Launch of the new extensions marketplace.
• Availability of an official Docker image for simplified deployment and a Docker/DevContainer environment usable by our developers.
• Development of new extensions to enrich the offering from launch.
• Writing of technical documentation (Doxygen type or equivalent).
• Publication of the new ClientXCMS showcase website, redesigned around this change.

Why This Change of Direction?

ClientXCMS was born from a simple desire: to offer a modern, flexible, and accessible tool for managing and automating hosting. But over time, a reality emerged: the current model no longer allowed us to evolve serenely and therefore has limits.

Carried by a small team of volunteers, the project required daily investment to maintain the existing, often at the expense of innovation. Extensions, the heart of ClientXCMS customization, suffered from a lack of time and visibility.

That's why we decided to rethink our approach. And for this, we have:

• Set up an automated testing pipeline, particularly for our Cloud services, to make updates more reliable.
• Redesigned and simplified the code, to make it more readable, more accessible, and to facilitate external contributions.
• Refocused our mission on developing an open foundation and co-building an ecosystem of extensions, inspired by projects like Proxmox.

We now consider that the core of the CMS is mature enough to be shared and audited by the community. Future code evolutions will be oriented toward stability, bug fixes, and community improvements via pull requests.

This change is an opening: it allows the community to participate, everyone to contribute at their level, and the team to focus on what really makes the value of ClientXCMS: its ecosystem, its modularity, and its adaptability.

The Core Remains Stable, Innovation Comes Through Extensions

With the opening of the project, our priority becomes clear: develop, structure, and enrich a dynamic and participatory ecosystem of extensions.

We will focus our efforts on:

• developing useful, accessible, and maintained extensions,
• setting up a framework conducive to external contributions,
• and valuing ideas from the community.

📍 For this, we have launched a dedicated site: 👉 ideas.clientxcms.com A space where you can connect via Discord, vote for extension ideas, propose new ones, and follow their evolution. The goal is clear: to co-build a tool as close as possible to real needs.

🔓 Some extensions will be available in open source — notably integrations with PayPal, Stripe, or Pterodactyl — because they meet essential and universal uses.

🛠️ Other extensions will be offered on the marketplace, with conditional access via licenses. They will cover more advanced or specific features, which meet more professional or personalized use contexts.

This hybrid model aims to guarantee a free and stable foundation, while allowing the ecosystem to grow through diverse and quality contributions.

A New Era Opens for ClientXCMS

This change is not a renunciation. It's a passing of the torch, a way to make ClientXCMS evolve without freezing it, by giving it new life.

After months of reflection, testing, hesitation, and discussions, we chose openness. Opening the code, opening the model, opening perspectives, and above all, opening it to hosts. Because we firmly believe that a digital project has more value when it is shared, carried, and enriched collectively.

We know this involves rethinking certain balances, sometimes giving up a part of comfort. But we also know that extensions can become a lever for sustainable growth, and that the community is ready to play an active role.
